Space City Sound, Houston’s award-winning all-voices a cappella chorus, is thrilled to announce its 10-year anniversary concert, Lightyear 10, on Saturday, June 7th, 2025. This special event will showcase a decade of musical excellence with a diverse repertoire of a cappella music, promising an unforgettable experience for all.

Under the dynamic direction of Patrick McAlexander, Space City Sound has captivated audiences with their unique interpretations and exceptional vocal blend. The chorus, proudly ranked 10th in the World at the Barbershop Harmony Society’s 2024 International Barbershop Chorus competition, will present their signature “Space City Sound” with a variety of songs, including the exhilarating Broadway hits “Opening Up” from Waitress The Musical and “When I Grow Up” from Matilda The Musical, as well as the jazz pop classic, “Don’t Know Why,” made famous by the incomparable Norah Jones.

Adding extra sparkle to the celebration, Space City Sound is delighted to welcome special guests: the internationally renowned a cappella quartet. Smoke Ring!
Hailing from New York City, their take on four-part a cappella earned them an impressive 9th in the World at the Barbershop Harmony Society’s International Quartet competition. “We couldn’t be more proud to share the stage with an electric and innovative quartet like Smoke Ring,” says Director, Patrick McAlexander. “Space City Sound and Smoke Ring share a kinship, as both ensembles are blazing their own trails in the blossoming world of mixed barbershop harmony.”

Audiences will have two opportunities to experience this spectacular anniversary concert on Saturday, June 7th, with performances at 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM. Both shows will be held at the University of Houston Student Center Theater, located at 4455 University Dr #103/203, Houston, TX 77204.
