Singers of all ages who pass our audition process are welcome to join Space City Sound.

Anytime! We recommend attending a few rehearsals first as a guest to get a feel for things, but once you’re ready to audition simply express your interest in person to a member of the Music Team or Directing Team.

Our audition consists of two phases. The first is a 10 or 15 minute long vocal assessment where we check your sense of pitch and rhythm and evaluate your range. The second phase is a bit more involved. We give you sheet music and learning tracks and give you three weeks to memorize a song. After three weeks of self-study, you’ll sing the piece in a quartet with the Music Team who will give you a bit of immediate feedback. You’ll then return the following week, sing it again, and the Music Team will make a decision regarding membership at that time. Qualities we’re looking for include accuracy of pitch and rhythm, clarity of tone, energetic performance, and responsiveness to feedback.
